Ha'lehua Ka’u Specialty Shade Grown Coffee

Ha'lehua Ka’u Specialty Shade Grown Coffee
from the Award Winning District of Ka’u on the Big Island
100% Natural no Herbicides, Pesticides or Chemical Fertilizers

The Ka'u District is an award-winning coffee region on the Big Island of Hawaii and has earned the reputation of growing one of the best quality coffees on the planet.
Ha'lehua Specialty Coffee is grown in Kau 100% natural to ensure the highest quality and achieve its greatest potential. The majority of our trees are Typica, which is an Arabica strain.
We concentrate on quality rather than quantity and nurture the plants with the utmost care and respect for nature. The result is a cup of coffee with an exquisitely unique and smooth flavor.
Grown on a small 3 acres coffee farm, Halehua coffee matures slowly under the shade of the majestic Koa trees. This increases natural sugars and enhances a more concentrated and less bitter flavor in the coffee. The trees not only protect the coffee from the direct sunlight, they also mulch the soil with their fallen leaves which helps retain soil moisture, eliminating the need for chemical fertilizers. (Traditionally, all coffee was shade grown.) Experts agree that the flavor of shade grown coffee is superior to that of full-sun coffee and that it is significantly less bitter.
Ha'lehua Coffee is handpicked at full maturity, hand pulped, washed with spring water, sorted and sun dried.
